This file describes how to use the Rational DOS16M DOS extender with
Zinc Application Framework 4.2.

This document is divided into the following sections:

At the time of this release, Rational DOS16M did not yet support
Borland 4.5.  Results with this version of the compiler may therefore
be unpredictable.

To use the Rational DOS16M DOS extender with Borland, do the 
following:

1) Update your path environment variable.  Your DOS16M\BIN
directory needs to be in the path.

2) Update your Borland TURBOC.CFG and TLINK.CFG files.  The
DOS16M\INCLUDE path needs to be in the TURBOC.CFG Include section,
and the DOS16M\LIB and DOS16M\LIB\BCC40 path needs to be in the
TURBOC.CFG and TLINK.CFG Library sections.

3) Build the libraries by using one of these command lines
from the \ZINC\SOURCE directory:
    make -fbtcpp400.mak -DRATIONAL16 dos16
    make -fbtcpp450.mak -DRATIONAL16 dos16

4) When linking, you may get the error 
    bcc40c0l.obj not found  

To fix this, edit the makefile to change the path of where
the file is located, or copy this file into the directory
\DOS16M\LIB\BCC40\, which is where the makefile looks for this file.

5) After linking, splice the .exe file.  There is a BD16M.BAT
file in the ZINC\BIN directory to make this step easier.
This file contains a path to a DOS16M\BIN directory.  Edit this to
be the full path of your DOS16M\BIN location.  Once the file is
updated, then any program can be spliced by typing BD16M <fileName>. 
This will take the .exe file, splice in the loader, mouse, and emu87
packages and create a DOS executable.

6) When using BTCPP400.MAK or BTCPP450.MAK to build example
and tutorial programs, follow the above steps.

---- MICROSOFT VISUAL C++ 1.5 ---------------------------------------

1) Update your path environment variable.  Your DOS16M\BIN
directory needs to be in the path.

2) Update your INCLUDE and LIB environment variables. The
DOS16M\INCLUDE path needs to be in the INCLUDE variable and the
DOS16M\LIB and DOS16M\LIB\MSC80 paths need to be in the LIB variable.

3) Build the libraries by using one of these command lines
from the \ZINC\SOURCE directory:
    nmake "RATIONAL16=" -fmvcpp150.mak dos16

4) After linking, splice the .exe file.  Do this by typing
    splice <exefile>

8)  When using MVCPP150.MAK to build example and tutorial programs,
you'll need to edit the file similar to step 3.  By default, the
16-bit makefile options are set up to use Pharlap.

1) Update your path environment variable.  Your DOS16M\BIN
directory needs to be in the path.

2) Update your INCLUDE and LIB environment variables. The
DOS16M\INCLUDE path needs to be in the INCLUDE variable and the
DOS16M\LIB and DOS16M\LIB\SCC61 paths need to be in the LIB variable.

3) Build the libraries by typing
    make -f sccpp610.mak dos16.

4) After linking, splice the .exe file.  Do this by typing
    splice <exefile>
